Literature Text

He told me he remembered something about me today; that he saw my older brother Metias at the hospital the night he tried to get meds for his little brother.

Metias. I remember that night as clear as crystal, Tomas murdered him-

"June?" Antarctic is cold, and keeping my thoughts in one place is like trying to stay warm, very hard. I snap out of my thoughts to see his gorgeous face staring back. Every day he says he remembers something, and that means every day I'm closer to getting the old Day back. Part of me wants the old Day back, but part of me enjoys this new one, the one that doesn't know I practically killed his family members.

Except Eden, who sits next to me in the meeting room. I moved to Antarctica a few years ago to help set up a stable government after the collapse of the old one. Eden suggested a parliamentary democracy, and the people had started leaning towards his idea, seeing as he was the one with all the ideas around her. People worship him here, he's like a god of some sort.

I look at Eden. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" He sighs.

"I said, you know what a parliamentary democracy is, right?" I shake my head, more in embarassment than in confusion.

"You have a president and a prime minister," Eden says. "The presdient and the prime minister share the workload of the country. God, I thought you learned this back in college." My cheeks turn a dark red. "Well, unlike you, I was preparing for war!" I snap back.

Eden tenses when I mention the war. Not many people here like to mention it, but I can't help but fight back after Eden provoked me. Day shakes his head.

"Leave it Eden, I want to talk to June for a second." Eden seems to hesitate before complying to his brother's wishes and exits the room.

I stare at Day, my heart pounding. His hair is growing back long now. But he doesn't seem to care. He turns to look at me with stunning blue eyes. "June.."

"Yeah?" He swallows before continuing.

"I remember- everything." Somehow my heart leaps up to my throat and I can't breath. I manage a shallow breath.

"Are you sure?" He nods. "My mother was shot by a commanding officer, Tomas, and my older brother John risked his life and was executed instead of me." He launches into story telling mode. I watch his face as he does it. When he gets to an emotional part, tears well up in his eyes. But before the next scene can begin, they're gone.

When he's finished, tears dot my face. He really does remember.

"How long?" I whisper. "How long have you known?" He ponders my statement before saying, "About a week or so. But at first they were flashes, memories that vanished before I had time to comprehend them. Dreams that never seemed finished, always left me wanting more." He looks at me and smiles.

"I remember us yelling, June. I remember our first meeting, our first kiss. God, I loved that kiss." I blush at that. Day leans over the small table and gently places his hand against my cheek. I've missed this touch so much. He leans in and gently presses his lips to mine.

And I don't hesitate to kiss back.

A scene that takes place a few years after Champion and Day somehow regains his memories about June and what happened. (That scene...)
Anyway, hope you enjoy my somewhat crappy fanfiction! Enjoy! Champion and characters belong to Marie Lu.
